frameOS

We ship fast - this is how the firmware evolves, build by build. Newest at the top.

In development

Track a Flight

A live flight-follow mode: select any flight and the frame features its journey, with on-device motion prediction between updates for smooth movement and a nudge the moment it's overhead. Building the responsive tracking engine now (see 3.58).

frameOS 3.58

Responsive tracking engine

Reworked the flight-follow pipeline end to end: instant lock-on the moment a flight is selected (no wait for the next cycle), an adaptive poll cadence that tightens as the aircraft approaches, on-device motion prediction between updates so the progress reads smoothly, and a local hand-off that takes over the instant the flight enters your own sky.

frameOS 3.57

Per-unit provisioning

Each frame now broadcasts a unique setup identity derived from its hardware ID, so multi-frame households pair cleanly and setup instructions match the exact network on screen.

frameOS 3.56

Deterministic quiet-sky state

Rebuilt the display state machine so the “quiet skies” scene renders only on a confirmed-empty result - never as a placeholder during a data gap. If something's overhead, you see it.

frameOS 3.54

Adaptive card dwell

On-screen dwell time now scales with traffic density: multiple aircraft overhead cycle faster so a fast mover doesn't clear the window before its turn on the panel.

frameOS 3.49

RTOS stack + stability hardening

Enlarged the loop-task stack to 16 KB and hardened the boot path - a single firmware image now runs rock-solid 24/7 across every board revision.

frameOS 3.47

Graceful connectivity handling

Added a debounced offline state with an on-screen reconnect notice. Brief network blips are absorbed silently; only a genuine, sustained drop surfaces - and it recovers on its own.

frameOS 3.46Major

Streaming data pipeline

Re-architected live-data ingestion to parse large payloads incrementally, slashing peak memory and eliminating slowdowns under the busiest skies (dozens of aircraft at once). The reliability backbone of everything above.

frameOS 3.43

Configurable e-ink refresh

Exposed selectable refresh profiles for the black-and-white panel - fast refresh for responsiveness, deep-black refresh for maximum contrast and crisp type.

frameOS 3.40

Edge-triggered attention + custom chimes

Event-driven alerting: an optional, uploadable chime fires once on a genuinely spottable overhead pass - quiet-hours-aware, cooldown-limited, off by default.

frameOS 3.38

Quiet-hours quiescence

Full display and network quiescence overnight - lower power draw, no flashing in a dark room, and a clean resume in the morning.

frameOS 3.35

I2S audio subsystem

Added an I2S amplifier path with synthesized two-tone chimes (no stored audio, no licensing surface) and full quiet-hours integration.

frameOS 3.31

Privacy hardening

Every outbound request now carries a minimal, uniform footprint. The frame keeps to itself.

frameOS 3.22

OTA delivery pipeline

Over-the-air updates with dual-slot A/B partitions and rollback protection - so builds like these reach every frame safely, no cable required.
